THE ARCHITECTURE

The Argus Residences comprises a row of five terrace houses built in 1928 in the Arts & Craft style. They were homes to several families of the Eurasian congregation who worship at the Assumption Church on Farquhar Street. Owned by the Catholic Church, the houses have been handed over to GTHH for its restoration and long-term care.

The houses have been restored to the exacting standards of GTHH, a process which has taken twelve months to complete. The exteriors maintain their original structure, reflecting colonial heritage, while the interiors now feature modern comforts.

THE INTERIOR

The interiors provide contemporary amenities and have been styled to incorporate the British colonial influence and cultural references from the Eurasian community.

Each house has a sitting and dining area downstairs while upstairs, there is a king-size four-poster colonial bed, two single day beds and a king-size sofa bed. Also found downstairs is a kitchenette, a spacious toilet, and a separate pavilion for the slipper bath. There are bathrooms with a shower on each floor. For those with mobility issues, some houses include a king-size pull-out bed downstairs.

The aesthetics and the detailed layering of the interiors will delight your senses with our selected vintage and antique furniture, overlaid with textiles, objets d’art and artwork created exclusively for this project.

THE PRECINCT

Available for short and long term lets, the Argus Residences are managed and operated by the team at Seven Terraces, just a two-minute stroll away. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac off Love Lane, the houses are secluded yet right in the heart of the Heritage Zone.

The 2,000+ sq ft of space offers a unique setting for entertaining friends or enjoying private time with loved ones. With air-conditioning on both floors, Wifi, smart TV and private parking, guests can enjoy modern comfort in a historical setting.

Come and stay and add this to your experiences of George Town.

Well well well....my stay at the Seven Terraces was absolutely fabulous. The Boutique hotel was right in the middle of the UNESCO village in Georgetown and it was an easy stroll to great little cafes, shops, restaurants, eateries and entertainment. The staff at the terraces were so helpful, friendly, pleasant and engaging.everyone of them from front office,to cleaners, cooks, and other service areas were wearing a smile daily The rooms were huge 80M2 and well equipped.I would stay there again and again.

From the minute we arrived it was heavenly. The place itself is sublime and you feel if you have been transported back in time to an era past. The hotel itself is a heritage building which has been lovingly restored to encompass modern amenities, filled with Asian art and antiques. We found every single member of staff to be friendly, knowledgeable and informative without being too intrusive. The room was more of a suite, double story which was no issue for us but may pose a problem for someone less nimble as the internal stairs are steep. Breakfast were served between daily and consisted of both European and local style food of a high standard. A wonderful afternoon tea served daily between 3-4pm with delicious traditional sweet jellies. We had a set menu at the hotel restaurant which is of an extremely high standard and very reasonably priced for the the high quality of the food. Although they serve food at the hotel the staff were more than happy to recommend other local eateries. One week was not enough in this hotel! It is situated in the heart of Georgetown among top restaurants and streets you can wonder in for days. Thank-you to all the staff for our wonderful stay.
